PureFeed vs Platform AI settings
Can't I just turn AI content off in settings?
After a year of complaints, a few platforms added controls: a tuner to see fewer AI pins, labels on altered or synthetic videos, a Web tab in search that skips the AI answer. It's a fair question whether that's enough.
The catch is that every one of these is opt-in by design, lives in a different menu, and covers only what the platform chooses to label. Most AI slop is never labelled - a chatbot-written LinkedIn post looks like any other post to LinkedIn - and there is no setting anywhere for "less ragebait".
| Platform AI settings | PureFeed | |
|---|---|---|
| What it covers | Content the platform itself labels as AI, where a setting exists at all | Platform labels plus unlabelled posts that read like AI, scored as "Likely AI" |
| Where it works | One platform, one menu - and only on platforms that ship a control | LinkedIn, Reddit, X, YouTube, Pinterest, Google and Bing from one popup |
| AI answers in search | No off switch for AI Overviews; you pick the Web tab each time | AI Overviews, the AI Mode button and Bing Copilot answers hidden automatically |
| Ragebait and negativity | Not covered | Scored on every post, with a strength you choose |
| Transparency | Content quietly appears less often | Every hidden post folds into a bar that says why, one click to show |
Platform settings are a good first step that stops at each platform's border and at its own labels. The slop that annoys people most - fluent, unlabelled, engagement-farming text - is exactly what they don't catch.
PureFeed sits on top: it honours the labels platforms already add, scores what they don't, and handles the search AI boxes no setting removes. Free on every supported site.
